Sue Breland

Sue Breland is an author, performer, worship director and consultant in Austin Texas. Sue began writing skits and dramas for church while a teenager, as well as, leading the music in worship services and singing throughout her hometown of Decatur, Illinois. With a passion for all things theatrical, Sue attended Anderson University (Anderson, IN) where she could integrate her dramatic interests with a love of the Church into a deep desire to explore the expression of faith through the arts.

After graduation, Sue traveled across Texas for several years performing one-woman productions of sacred music and original drama for churches, conferences and mission conventions. By 2000, Sue had become the Worship Director at Austin’s non-denominational Community Bible Fellowship, working closely with the Pastor to design worship that endeavors to prepare hearts and minds to receive God’s message including written meditations, stewardship thoughts, music, drama, and leading the congregation to worship. She additionally writes and administers its website, social media and blog.

As a consultant, Sue works with nonprofit organizations in strategic planning, board development, and friend and fundraising. She holds a master’s degree in Organization Development and is an instructor and coordinator for the William P. Hobby Center for Public Service at Texas State University.

In 2013, Sue was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. With family, friends and faith she overcame the disease, and the side-effects of treatment, to a full recovery. That year was a learning experience in patience, submission, and determination. It was also the impetus to begin publishing the Worship for One series of books. Life is too short and uncertain to delay sharing the things that are most important.

Sue and her husband reside outside of Austin with a menagerie of pets, approaching each day with grace and gratitude.
